I know everyone, well maybe not everyone, but a good portion of some people have jumped on the whole vampire bandwagon. I just want to point out, that I was on that bandwagon a long time ago, not as early as Buffy, but still before all the books came out. So in an effort to take a break but still hang out in the realm of unreal, I have started reading Charlaine Harris' (http://www.charlaineharris.com/) series about Harper Connelly (http://www.charlaineharris.com/bibliography/bibliog-harper.html). I am currently on book 3, An Ice Cold Grave.
As with most series, they can get a bit predictable. But these books still manage to pull me in. Harper can find dead bodies. She was struck by lightening as a teenager and now can find dead bodies. This might not seem all the unreal or creepy but once she finds them she can tell you how they died. You know how? By sort of reliving their deaths. Personally that is not something I would like to experience. But the books have good story lines and are definitely a twist from the norm. I recommend (as with any series) to start at the beginning with Grave Sight and see if you can't join in on all the gruesome fun of finding dead bodies, and all the twists and turns that come with it.
